Interesting Facts
  • Many successful businesses were created during times of economic downturn, as entrepreneurs found innovative solutions to problems that arose during those challenging times.

  • The majority of start-up ideas come from personal experiences or frustrations that the entrepreneur has encountered in their own life.

  • A large percentage of start-ups fail within the first few years due to a lack of market demand, poor financial management, or not having a solid business plan in place.

Don't want to start a business from scratch?  Buy a business and grow it!  Check out this website for sale and what I would do in the next 30 to 90 days to grow it!

I came across this cool dessert recipe website that's up for sale, and I think it could be a great opportunity for someone looking to dive into a digital business.

The site has been around for five years but hasn’t been actively updated for about a year. Despite that, it still makes passive income and has a solid base.

I’ve been thinking about what I would do if I were to take it over, so I thought I’d share my plan for the first 30 to 90 days to turn it into a more profitable venture.

First 30 Days: Fix and Optimize the Basics

  1. Fix the Google Deindexing Issue
So, the site has a Google indexing problem that’s limiting its organic traffic. If I bought it, the first thing I’d do is work with an SEO expert to get that fixed. Google needs to start crawling and indexing the site again to boost traffic.

  2. Update the Content
The content’s been stalled for a while, but it has over 1,200 dessert posts! I’d kick things off by updating some of the older posts—especially optimizing them with better keywords, new dessert trends, and more appealing images. Plus, I’d bring in some fresh content from new writers to keep things rolling.

  3. Monetize More Effectively
The site’s already making money through ads and affiliate links, but there’s room for improvement. I’d:

    • Fine-tune the ad placements through Ezoic and Adsense.

    • Add more Amazon affiliate links to the dessert posts that could use them.

    • Look into Mediavine, which pays higher rates for ad space, and see if we meet the requirements.

  4. Get Social & Re-engage the Email List
The Pinterest account is still getting around a million impressions a month, which is awesome, so I’d definitely work on improving those pins and maybe even try some paid ads. The Facebook page is kinda dormant, so I’d start posting there again. And the email list of about 2,000 subscribers? I’d send a welcome campaign to get them excited about the site again, with affiliate links mixed in for extra profit.

Next 90 Days: Grow and Diversify

  1. Seek Sponsored Content
The site has a lot of potential for sponsorships, especially since it focuses on desserts. I’d reach out to dessert brands, kitchen tools, and ingredient companies to explore potential sponsored posts. This could become a steady income stream.

  2. Boost the YouTube Channel
The YouTube channel is a big revenue source, but it needs more attention. I’d start uploading more videos regularly, focusing on dessert-making tutorials, behind-the-scenes content, or recipe breakdowns. Plus, optimizing videos for search would help boost views, and we could make money through ads, affiliate links, or even sponsored videos.

  3. Create Digital Products
There’s a lot of potential for selling digital products. I could create an eCookbook or printable recipe cards and sell them directly on the site. They’d be great for the audience who wants something more tangible from the site.

  4. Engage the Community
Engagement is key for long-term growth. I’d run fun recipe challenges or encourage the community to submit their own creations. The more involved they feel, the more likely they are to share the site and keep coming back.

  5. Test and Track for Improvements
Finally, I’d regularly check the analytics to see what’s working. I’d test different ad placements, affiliate strategies, and content types to figure out what drives the most revenue and traffic.

Why It’s a Great Opportunity
Even though this site has been quiet for a bit, it still has great traffic potential.

With some updates, better monetization, and a bit more engagement, it could easily become a more profitable business.

It’d take minimal effort but could be a passive income goldmine down the line.
